It's been awhile, hasn't it?

These last couple of months have seriously disappeared in a blur of doctor appointments and cancer treatments.
Happily though ...
I'm half way through my treatments!

And I'm feeling pretty well (just tired a lot of the time.)

This weekend is Craig's and my 29th wedding anniversary!!!
We were going to do a three day weekend somewhere ...
But are putting that on the back burner, for awhile.
He hasn't been feeling too well lately.
(Hernia issues and some sort of cold or flu bug.)

Also,
I found a walnut size lump in the other breast that my doctor is going to check out on Friday.

No sense spending that kind of money when both our minds are on all this health stuff.
Instead it'll be some local fun-
  • Either a matinee of "Law Abiding Citizen" or "Where the Wild Things Are."
  • Lunch at a new-to-us restaurant.
  • A trek to this really huge Arts & Craft's show up at the UNI-DOME.
(We are such an old married couple sometimes!)

Next year will be thirty years ...
Definitely a big party for that one!!!

On This Day

On This Day ~
Mend a quarrel.
Search out a forgotten friend.
Dismiss a suspicion and replace it with trust.
Write a letter to someone who misses you.
Encourage someone who has lost faith.
Keep a promise.
Forget an old grudge.
Vow to reduce your demands on others.
Fight for a principle.
Overcome an old fear.
Express your gratitude.
Take two minutes to appreciate the beauty of nature.
Tell someone you love them.
Tell them again
and again,
and again!

No More Cancer ... Please!

The little purple guy, is how I've been feeling about cancer lately.
A little over a week ago I had my breast cancer surgery.
This only six months after having a full hysterectomy to remove uterine cancer.
Anyway...
In a couple of weeks, I start five weeks of five-days-a-week radiation.
After that, it will be five years of tamoxifen.
On October 1st...
I go see an endocrinologist because of nodules on my thyroid.
Believe it or not, I'm trying real hard to keep a positive attitude!

Music Monday ~ Washed Up

This group is called Washed Up ...
Cody, my youngest son - plays guitar and is the one you can only see his elbow.
(He also made this demo video.)

Here they are playing the song live ...
(Cody is the one with the red bandanna on his head.)

A Kitchen Remodel, Zoloft, A Needle Biopsy, and The Boys

Kitchen remodel ...
Two words that are simultaneously exciting & dreadful - and we are experiencing both!
It's awesome how much work we are accomplishing together as a family.
New insulation, drywall, texture, paint.
Plus, as of tonight we are halfway done with the hardwood floor.
(Craig's knees are SORE as hell from putting in those floor boards.)
He and Cody are finishing the night with watching the DVD "The Watchmen."
I'm too tired to sit through a movie this late.
And I'm definitely not in the mood to do the dishes in the bathtub again!
I think they will sit just fine until tomorrow.

Zoloft ...
Lately, I've been feeling much better.
My doctor finally convinced me to give zoloft a try.
So I started it.
It has only been a little over a week ...
But it really does seem to be helping!
Now I feel a little dumb that I fought medication so hard.
Oh well, better late than never.

A needle Biopsy ...
I also have to have a needle biopsy Monday, because my mammogram showed something.
This always causes me some worry, because breast cancer is ALL OVER my mom's side of the family.
My mom, her sister, my mom's mom, my mom's dad ... all had breast cancer.
That's why I really try to live as healthy of a lifestyle as I can.
Hopefully it turns out to just be something benign!

The boys ~

Cody's band performed at the Steb's reunion show last night at Spicolis.
He had fun ...
Also, Dillon was back from his guest artist spot's in Akron and Erie, so he was able to go watch his brother.
Even though they don't always see eye to eye on things, they definitely try to support each other!
